Greetings
Thank you for visiting my website. A little about me: I was interested in psychotherapy because I loved learning and relationships - this work is all about both. The first ten years of my working life, while I was earning my B.S. in Buddhism and M.S.W at UW-Madison, I worked in and with small businesses in various roles such as general manager, regional manager, and consultant, with a particular interest in mentoring, hiring, and organizational leadership. After obtaining my independent license in social work I completed the training to become a Board approved supervisor. In recent years I attained a 2-year certificate program from the Minnesota Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy & Psychoanalysis here, in St. Paul, and completed a second 1-year certificate in Intersubjective Self Psychology from TRISP in NYC. About my work: My clients would likely say about me that I care a lot about them, that we laugh a good deal, that we talk about their histories, that here-and-now challenges are important and addressed, and that I am serious about the work and ask that they are, too. I work with people long-term, usually weekly and in person. Over time, people develop skills to better navigate relationships, they process loss of all kinds, and they become more regulated, and are able to regulate themselves. People also tell me that they feel more confident. Because fit between client and therapist is so important, I speak with all prospective clients before meeting. I have worked with most demographics. I don't have a specialty that way, but I know my clinical limits and am comfortable sharing when I don't feel qualified to help. I find fit is best determined by speaking. I work optimally with people who want to make change and are motivated to attend sessions; they needn't know the way, we'll figure that out together. I welcome any questions you have.
